At the Geierswalder See Courses & times
Cruiser Craft
Hire a motorboat without a licence and take the canal through to the neighbouring lakes of the Lusatian chain.
Harbour master
Brought your own boat? The slipways get it into the water. Moorings on water and on land can be rented by the season.
Bikes for the chain of lakes
The circular route runs once around the lake and on to its neighbours. Rental bikes at Bike-Stadl, Fahrradverleih Heduschka and at the OST-Ufer beach bar.
Fishing
Fishing has been allowed at the Geierswalder See since July 2020. Day and week permits for visiting anglers are available online.
The lake
Twenty years ago
there was no water here.
The Geierswalder See is the flooded remnant pit of the Koschen open-cast mine. Rehabilitation was completed in 2004 and the lake opened in 2006 — the first water in the Lusatian Lake District usable for tourism. Today 620 hectares of water lie in front of the door, connected to the neighbouring lakes by a navigable canal.
